A Nairobi woman has shared a painful story of abuse and suffering that she says she endured at the hands of her own parents for years. Her emotional account has shocked many and sparked conversations about family violence and the need for legal protection.
The woman narrated a horrifying incident in which her father allegedly stormed into her husband’s house, stripped her naked, and beat her badly. She said the attack left her with serious injuries on her back and thighs.
Being assaulted by her own parent in her matrimonial home deeply traumatized her and made her feel that her family would never allow her to live in peace, even after marriage.
According to the woman, the abuse did not end there. She claims that her parents later broke into her home and carried away almost everything she owned.
Household items, including things meant for friends, were taken. Even more painful, her parents allegedly took her KCSE and diploma certificates, documents she desperately needed to look for a job.
She says this happened during the COVID-19 period when jobs were already hard to find. Without her certificates, she was left helpless and unable to support herself.
When she tried to ask for them back, her mother allegedly demanded KSh 250,000. At the time, both she and her husband were students and could not raise such an amount.
The woman believes her parents’ actions were meant to control her life, weaken her independence, and destroy her marriage. She revealed that her husband tried several times to reconcile her with her family, but all efforts failed.
Her story has touched many people online, with some urging victims of family abuse to seek help through the law and relevant authorities instead of suffering in silence.
The woman hopes her confession will encourage others in similar situations to speak out and protect their lives and dignity.
