Suicide has become one of the leading causes of death among police officers, raising concern about the mental health challenges faced in the service.
Officers are often exposed to trauma, stress, and difficult working conditions, which in some cases lead to tragic outcomes.
In the latest incident, a police officer was found dead in his house in Kangondi village, Kitui County.
Constable Dennis Nzau Ndav is believed to have died by suicide. His body was discovered hanging from a truss inside his house, with a rope tied around his neck.
According to reports, Ndav’s wife had tried to reach him without success. Earlier, he had sent her a message suggesting suicidal thoughts.
Alarmed, she contacted his colleagues, who rushed to his residence at the Kangondi police lines. They found his body hanging from a truss with a rope around his neck.
The body was later moved to the mortuary as investigations into the incident began. Authorities are probing the circumstances that may have led to his death, as they seek to establish whether there were personal or work-related issues involved.
