Jubilee Party to Hold Independent Rallies Amid Opposition Tensions

The Jubilee Party has announced plans to conduct independent rallies nationwide, citing concerns that joint opposition events favor candidates from the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

Speaking on Wednesday, Deputy Party Leader Jeremiah Kioni said that Jubilee aspirants often struggle to present their agendas at united opposition rallies.

“The rallies by the united opposition do not give our candidates enough time to communicate their plans to voters,” Kioni explained. “We need a platform to market our candidature while supporting the broader opposition agenda.”

The decision comes amid early positioning for the 2027 General Election, where opposition parties have not yet agreed on a consensus presidential candidate.

Kioni added that he was personally frustrated after being denied the chance to address a rally in Ndaragwa constituency, where he represented for ten years.

“If Jubilee is not careful, our voices will be lost, and voters will not have a chance to engage with our candidates,” he noted.

Political observers say the announcement highlights internal tensions within the opposition coalition.

Analyst Dr. Faith Mwangi remarked, “This is not just about rallies; it reflects deeper tensions as parties try to position themselves for the 2027 elections. Jubilee’s move ensures its candidates are not sidelined.”

While opposition parties continue touring the country to build support, Jubilee’s independent rallies aim to give voters clearer visibility of the party’s candidates and platforms.

The party emphasized that the move is not intended to undermine unity but to ensure fair representation and engagement across all regions ahead of the polls.
